The Mouths of Babes

We had a minor scare last night when we smelled gas from our propane tank and had to evacuate the house with the dog and guinea pig until the propane company could come determine the source. We contacted several friends for a place to go, landing at friends' and staying until about 11pm, at which time the service guy said we could go home.  We have to contact a plumber to figure out from where exactly the gas is leaking, but it's safe to be here.  After all the phone calls looking for a place to go (doesn't anyone stay home on Saturdays?), this morning at church a friend's child said to Owen, "OWEN! I heard about your GAS problem last night!"
A 2 year old child we know was being pretty rambunctious during the church service today, and as Owen tried to help her mom to keep her quiet, there was a lot of "shushing" with a finger pressed to their lips.  She finally settled down for a few minutes, and there were two teenage girls sitting in the row in front of them, talking quietly.  The 2 year old pressed her finger to her lips and loudly "shhh"-ed the girls.
While we were at our friends' place there was the possibility we'd be staying overnight.  Their 7 year old son was ecstatic at the prospect of Owen spending the night as a sleepover!  (I'm not as big a deal, the kids see me a couple times a week).  Our friends' son tried to nonchalantly recommend that Owen sleep in his room in the bunk bed, and was so bummed when we went home for the night.  It's great to be loved!

Glad the "gas problem" is being resolved. Kids do say the darndest things, don't they?

Glad you're loved by lots of kids and I'm sure the kids are glad you love them back.
